Ranse Jones Beach Jam

Event History

Ransford S. Jones Charitable Foundation has teamed up with UNC Wilmington Volleyball and Capt'n Bill's to present the Ranse Jones Beach Jam, a beach volleyball tournament in memory of Ranse, an avid beach volleyball player. Ranse graduated from UNC Wilmington in 1998 before relocating to Florida to pursue his dream of playing professional beach volleyball. Ranse was also a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Flagler County Fire Department in Florida. In 2010 at the age of 34, while playing in an AVP Young Guns Professional tournament in Panama City, Florida, Ranse suffered a stroke and passed away 6 months later. Since Ranse's passing we have been offering this tournament to fund a volleyball scholarship at UNCW and to support the Stroke Awareness program at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
